Lamar County School District (LCSD) recently recognized its school board members. Among those recognized was our attorney Rick Norton. Norton has served as the Lamar County School District Board Attorney since December 2008. Mr. Norton graduated Cum Laude from Tulane Law School after earning his Undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. He has been a partner with the Bryan Nelson P.A. law firm since 1990.
Mr. Norton said, “I am passionate about supporting teachers, administrators and parents so that students can attain their highest educational potential. Serving as board attorney is one way I can use my skills as a lawyer to help students. I am optimistic about the future for education in Lamar County because of the teachers and leadership in the District, the volunteers in each school and the focus of the students.” The LCSD thanked Norton for his service to the school board and the district as a whole. Norton was born in Laurel, and raised in Louisiana. He and his wife Lois have been married for 43 years. They have four children, all Oak Grove High School graduates. His hobbies include traveling, gardening and fishing.
